The short version: We collect the information you provide (your career history, contact details, and resume content) and use it solely to generate resumes and related documents for you. We do not sell your data. You can delete all of your data at any time from your profile page.

1. What Information We Collect

Information you provide

When you create an account and use ResumeAgent, you provide us with:

  • Account information: your name, email address, and password
  • Profile information: phone number, location, LinkedIn URL, website URL, professional summary, and profile photo
  • Employment information: work history, job titles, companies, dates, achievements, skills, education, certifications, and projects
  • Writing samples: text you provide so we can match your natural voice and tone
  • Job descriptions: the job postings you paste when generating resumes

Sensitive information

We treat your employment information — including work history, job titles, skills, compensation-related achievements, and career details — as sensitive personal data. This information is stored securely and used only to generate your resumes, cover letters, and related documents.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our site, we automatically collect basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and device type. This information helps us keep the site secure and functioning properly. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • Generating tailored resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn content based on your knowledge base and target job descriptions
  • Providing AI-powered coaching feedback on your resume content
  • Managing your account, authentication, and subscription
  • Sending transactional emails (welcome emails, subscription confirmations, password resets)
  • Maintaining the security and performance of our services
  • Responding to your support requests

3. We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your data is used exclusively to provide our services to you. We do not share your employment history, resume content, or any other personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for their own purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate ResumeAgent, including providers for database hosting, AI processing, payment processing, email delivery, and website hosting. Each service only receives the minimum data necessary to perform its function.

For example, our payment processor handles your billing details but never sees your resume content, and our AI provider processes your career data for resume generation but never sees your payment information. We never store your full credit card number — that is handled entirely by our payment processor.

5. Cookies

We use cookies only for authentication — they keep you logged in as you use the site. These are essential cookies required for the service to function. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), row-level security policies on our database, and secure authentication practices.

If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

7. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your data for as long as you have an active account. When you delete your account, we permanently remove all of your personal data, including your knowledge base, generated resumes, cover letters, and profile information.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data:

  • View and edit: You can view and update all of your information at any time through your profile and knowledge base pages.
  • Download: You can download your generated resumes as PDFs at any time.
  • Delete everything: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the profile page. This action is immediate and irreversible.

You do not need to contact us to exercise any of these rights — they are all available directly in the application.

9. Children

ResumeAgent is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn that we have collected data from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@theresumeagent.com.

10. Changes to This Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the site.
